Summer’s here and I have the perfect Review and Giveaway for you. Today I am reviewing the Lodge Cast Iron Griddle from Eagle Hill Market.
This griddle is a two-sided griddle, so it’s perfect for the Colorado Fire Danger and the Governor’s ban on open fires here this season! You can use this on your camp stove and you can even use it on your grill.
One side of the griddle is flat and the opposite side has raised areas that would give you the look of the grilled food with the seared lines in it… without the grease flare ups of grilling and still less fat in your food. For that matter if you have a gas stove at home, why not use this on that as well? I don’t know why not… I wouldn’t use it on electric stoves however.
I received my Lodge Griddle and I love it, we tested it out late one night when it was finally cool enough outside to feel we could stand the heat out there long enough to grill. The Griddle came pre-seasoned, and worked just great! I do however need to re-season the griddle in one area as the cardboard strip that came around the griddle wore an area down in shipping to me as it must have rubbed on the griddle. You can look up how to re-season cast iron online… me I just use oil and place the cast iron pans of mine in the oven when I use the ovens auto clean setting with a good coat of oil on it and I let the oven and pan cool fully before removing it from the oven, just in case it would crack the skillet that I grew up with and was given over 20 years ago by my parents.
As you may know, cooking on cast iron is so much healthier for you too… especially for us women of child-bearing years as your bodies lose a certain amount of iron each month. This way of cooking can help keep your body healthier as it does help put some iron into your body once again.
In conclusion, I love this Cast Iron Griddle, no complaints here! This griddle will be easy to pack up to go camping this summer, since it doesn’t take up much room and it is idea for use on the grill as well as on the camping stove. Also while I was looking around the internet at this griddle, I crossed checked prices and Eagle Hill Market not only had the products for cheaper than the sites I saw, but the prices are also cheaper than the suggested retail prices that were listed on those sites as well! How cool is that?

I Love my Lodge Logic Cast Iron Dutch Oven, it’s truly a great addition to my kitchen!
You really have to try the recipe, after I bought the book, I found the recipe online in a search… you just need the cast iron dutch oven to make this truly as the recipe intended.
And it’s great for the French recipe from Julia Child’s, Boeuf bourguignon… yup I had to buy her book and cook it after watching Julie Julia! I am sure many people have done the same after the movie!

We love cast iron but there are only two of us and most of the pots are HUGE. So I’m thrilled to see smaller ones. I’d love to have the Lodge Logic 2qt. Camp Dutch Oven … perfect size!
Great point, about the smaller sizes, being that it’s just my husband and I here, we two understand and love that about EagleHillMarket!
Of course being that my husband is a BIG meat eater, some things like the fry pans have to be BIG to cook up the meats and not over crowd them (like I’ve learned not to do on the Food Network shows.)
